Liberal Arts and the Breakfast of Champions

Well the regular season is finally over.  I say that like it was something I looked forward to.  This season went so fast!  This meet was amazing though, by far the best season I have ever had in any sport I have competed in.  To watch the meet was a delight.  Some of the best swims I have ever seen, I saw this weekend.  Personally, I put out the best swims of my life.  I met my only goals in getting cuts in my two relays and the 50.  The pool was definitely a fast pool, and out team took full advantage of that.  The only thing that went wrong with the meet is that the divers couldn't do 1-meter at the pool because someone messed up the schematics of the facility and the board was acutally 1.0668 meters above the surface of the water (it was 6 inches too high).  So the divers had to go an hour away to the high school's pool and dive.   But things sounded like they went well over there.

Principia College itself was a little bit of a different place.  It is a Christian Science based college, and if you don't know what that is you should look it up.  I am not going to say it's weird but it was definitely a little bit of an experience.  For me especially, with my views on standardized religions it was quite a trip.  A 7 hour trip to be exact.

So the meet ended at roughly 11pm and we didn't get home until 6am.  So what does a team do after that have the most successful meet in school history?  That's right, we make eggs and hash browns.  We went over to the Chicken Coop (the senior women's house) and started cooking.  We also had planned on having a keg going, but I guess the weather didn't want to allow that.  One of the housemates not on the team went to get the keg earlier on Saturday but let it sit out in her car because there was no way she could get it in.  When me and Bryan went to get it out of her car, it was frozen solid.  I had never seen anything like it, but that wasn't going to hold us back.  I went and got some cases and we had some fun.  There was some dancing, drinking, screaming (mostly Betsy), and other fun.  The fun climaxed when we took a trip to the CAF and had a little bit of Sunday morning brunch...drunk.  After that I passed out until we went swimming later in the day.

Now I am ready for another month of the season, which is good because I wasn't really ready for it to be over this last weekend.
